2007 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

WOW, What a World Championship

First of we got to see both old and new friends:
We visited with many Keichu folks
We were able to see Soke Karl Marx Founder of our style
We saw Danny Gilliland, the Prewetts, Eldridge Conley (highest ranking Keichu Black Belt besides Soke)

Our Students competed: both Enrique Leon and Tristan Thompson were in attendance.  They each won 1st in their Kata Division and 1st in their sparring division.  4 World championships.

Sensie Jeff won the Black Belt men kata division and was 2nd in fighting (he lost to Adrian Galvan who eventually won the Grand Championship).

We made new friends in Indiana, Ohio, Louisiana and other places.

Your instructor was also elected to the USKA Hall of Fame.  This is a great honor and many never make it.  It is for the Best of the Best and for the Movers and Shakers of the Martial Arts in all the USKA.

We ate great food and enjoyed the city and the people.

Enrique and Tristan, also attended the National points award ceremony.  Enrique, Tristan, and Matt Fach each won a division and received 1st Place awards.  Tristan was fortunate to be one of the few to win 2 divisions, and he received the All American patch for that honor.

We are excited by all of our students and look forward to creating winning opportunities for each of you, whether it be in tournament or in other areas of your life.

Others that finished in the Top 10 included:
Ken Middaugh 5th Sr Kyu Kata
Matt Fach 7th in Sparring

Toni's Black Belt Test

Well we all went to Nipomo, Ca to participate in Toni's Test.  The board included Soke, Sensei Jeff, MrMr, Mrs. Crothers, Mr. Hickman, Heather Christensen, Rebecca Prewett, Miriam Prewett.

Well that is enough Black Belts to scare anyone to death.  On top of that Toni was the only candidate and she was really nervous.

She proceeded to perform all here material, using Jaymie and flinging her around like a ragdoll on several occasions.

Thanks to Jaymie for being a good Uki.  She now knows what a test is like.

In the end the board met and discussed and awarded that Black Belt to Toni.  I guess that means we all have to learn her last name and how to pronounce it properly as well.

This is a good year to join the USKA, it looks like a couple of tournaments will be added to the schedule, this will allow
you to attend tournaments in California.  Every year we have several students that compete for points in the national point competition and end up placing in the top 10 within the entire USKA.  So having added California tournaments will help.
I believe one is scheduled for December 2nd and that Mrs. Prewett from 5 Cities Keichu has agreed to hold a tournament in February.  Only USKA members are included in the Final Point Standings.  See us if you have questions on this.

Again we always want to say what a privilege it is to teach both our adult and our youth students.

Lord Willing I will see you in Class

2006 National Notes

Fantastic Competition and Comraderie demonstrated at the Nationals.
Our team did a great job and we are proud of everyone.
Because of all the competitors, I did not get all the results yet.  I do know some of them.  The students I was able to watch presented high quality Katas and fought great.  Remember this is the most competitive USKA event.  Every competitor had to qualify, so it is really the best of the best....and it takes courage to compete.
Make sure you congratulate everyone whether they trophied or not.
Our studio had more places and won more trophies than any other time in our history.  Our parents and students helped the tournament and represented Mr. Crothers and myself and Keichu Do with great attitudes.  Thanks to all...

I know we had a least 8 National Champions and others placed as well.
I will post the results soon.

I posted some pictures too.
